Travel restrictions could make it “impossible” for Archie Harrison to spend much time with family members on both sides of the Atlantic, a royal commentator has claimed. Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had originally announced a plan to split their time equally between the UK and America when they stepped down as senior royals. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the family have not been able to return to Britain since April, something that may continue for the rest of the year as ABC News foreign correspondent Maggie Rulli discussed on the HeirPod.

She told listeners: “I am excited for this future where [Harry and Meghan] spend more time in the UK.

“That was the original plan, right?

“They really were going to have more of a life in both countries.

“They wanted to still work on charities in both countries and go back and forth.”

Ms Rulli continued: “They wanted to make sure Archie got to know both sides of the family.

“I think that would be amazing if it becomes possible again.

“Unfortunately this past year it was just impossible for them to be flying like that from LA to the UK.

“Fingers crossed, it could start happening this year going forward.”

Vanity Fair reported that Meghan and Harry have been planning to come back for all of June and all of July.

The extended trip would include Trooping the Colour, the Diana statue unveiling in July and Harry’s grandparents’ milestone birthdays.

The Queen will turn 95 in April and Prince Philip will reach 100 in June.

A large celebration is being planned for the Duke of Edinburgh’s centenary.
