A total of 41.5 percent of the population, equating to 23.3million people in England, will be in Tier 3 of the Government’s new plan from Wednesday. Tier 3 restrictions will be implemented in Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and Kent, among other areas in England. Only three spots in the country have found themselves in the lowest tier, 1, as the Isle of Wight, Isles of Scilly and Cornwall recorded no confirmed cases of Covid in the week leading up to November 23.

Can you meet friends in Tier 3?

In Tier 3, the rules are the most stringent out of all the alert levels.

While you are still able to meet and spend time with friends in Tier 3, the rules are very different from normal.

Household mixing indoors is banned, except for people in your household or support bubble.

So if you want to see friends and live in a Tier 3 area, you can only choose one you’d like to create a bubble with.

That way, you can continue seeing each other as though you were part of the same household for the duration of the tier system.

You also shouldn’t be meeting people outside your support bubble in a pubic place or outdoor setting.

The ‘rule of six’ applies to everyone in all tiers going forward, including those who have created a bubble with another group.

Hospitality venues, such as pubs, restaurants, bars and cafes will be allowed to operate on a takeaway-only basis, offering click and collect, drive through and delivery services throughout Tier 3 areas.

Between December 23 and December 27, the rules on who you can meet in bars, pubs and restaurants will not change

From December 2, you can attend places of worship in all tiers, but in Tier 3, you need to make sure you’re adhering to the rule of six at all times, and only attending with people in your household or support bubble.

Between December 23 and December 27, you can also go to a church, mosque or other place of worship with members of your Christmas bubble, applicable in all tiers.

Again, between December 23 and December 27, rules on who you can meet in shops in Tier 3 will not change, so make sure to stick to your household or support bubble.
