Coronavirus vaccine for UK nationals living in the Czech Republic

We are aware that some British nationals have recently experienced issues when trying to register for a COVID-19 vaccine in the Czech Republic. This is mostly due to the fact that the online booking system requires a “birth registration number” (rodné číslo).

If you are currently eligible for a vaccine, i.e. you have residency in the Czech Republic and are 80+ or work as a health professional, but you have not been able to book online on Ministry of Health’s website, please contact the Ministry of Health directly by sending an e-mail to crs_covid@mzcr.cz and provide the following information:

  • full name
  • birth registration number OR personal insurance number
  • which health insurance company covers your healthcare in the Czech Republic
  • what type of health insurance card you hold, i.e. blue (valid also for the EU, picture A below) or yellow (valid for the Czech Republic only, picture B below).

Types of health insurance card: (A) valid for the EU; (B) valid for the Czech Republic only

If your health insurance card specifically mentions the extent of healthcare you are entitled to, please include that as well. This can either be “plná péče” (comprehensive healthcare), “nutná a neodkladná péče” (necessary healthcare), or “lékařsky nezbytná péče” (medically necessary healthcare). If your card does not include this information, just state which colour it is.

The Ministry of Health will then be in touch and guide you through the process.
You can find more information on the Czech vaccination scheme on the website of the Ministry of Health.
