Despite the news, the Government seems determined to keep restaurants under lock and key in the worst affected areas.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has now unveiled renewed financial support for businesses as they face tougher restrictions.
Both tier 2 and tier 3 regions will have new grants, amongst them retrospective funding for adversely impacted restaurants.
Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UKHospitality, welcomed the news, calling them “a hugely generous package of support”.
