East Sussex seaside ‘explosion’: Dozens of fire engines rush as thick smoke fills sky | UK | News (Reports)

Terrifying footage of a warehouse in East Sussex burning has emerged. In videos taken, huge plumes of black smoke can be seen rising out of a building in Newhaven. The area has now been closed off by East Sussex officials and they have asked for the area to be avoided.

The Fire and Rescue Service has sent 12 crews to the scene.

East Sussex Fire Control tweeted: “Latest update from the scene in Newhaven… crews working hard… we are likely to be there for some time.

“We know it’s hot but please keep windows and doors closed if you’re in the area.”

It is not yet known how the fire began.

The fire is being attended to on Beach Road in Newhaven.

According to officials, it was first alerted at 9:32am.

They say they have received more than 30 calls about it.

The fire is affecting an industrial building and there are no reports of injuries.
