Vaccines for Covid-19 are being given across the UK, with more than 3.2 million people now given the jab against the deadly virus. Today Health Secretary Matt Hancock praised Britons for their part in combatting coronavirus, writing on Twitter: “Fantastic that over 3.2 million people have now been vaccinated across the UK, including almost 45 percent of over 80s and almost 40 percent of care home residents. THANK YOU to everyone playing your part in our national effort to stay at home as we accelerate the COVID vaccine roll-out.”

The NHS is currently undertaking the mass vaccination effort, with groups of people eligible to receive the vaccine in stages.

Currently, vaccines are being given to people aged 80 and over, people who live or work in care homes and health and social care workers at high risk.

Hospitals, pharmacies and local vaccination centres are offering the jab, with appointments arranged for those registered with a GP Surgery.

Those in line for the vaccine will be contacted by the NHS to arrange an appointment at a centre local to them.
