The video on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Instagram page showed Irish Guardsman Lcpl Laverty being reunited with his young son. The young boy is shown running across the football pitch. He then jumps into his father’s arms. Kate and Willam captioned the video: “A sweet moment as Lcpl Laverty of the @IrishGuards, of which Prince William is Colonel, returns home from training to surprise his son.”

Cambridge fans were quick to share their delight at the heartwarming video.

Some even confessed they welled up while watching.

One fan wrote: “The most precious jewels that can be worn around your neck are the arms of your children.

“What a beautiful moment – i’m teary here.”

Another added: “I do not cry, i do not cry, i do not cry…”

A third fan admitted

They said: “This is what’s so precious about Prince William and Duchess Catherine, it’s never about them and never do they make a huge fuss about what they have lost or could have gained.

“They graciously take little sweet moments like these of general people and mightily champion them.

 The video was first posted on the Irish Guards’ social media page.

It was captioned: “Touching moment when Irish Guardsman Lcpl Laverty returns home to surprise his son in Northern Ireland.

“Maintaining #family and home life is recognised as a vital corner stone in a rewarding career within the British Army.

“Lcpl Laverty is currently mid-way on an arduous and intensive machine guns course in Warminster, England.”

Kate and William are certainly starting to become known for their growing social media presence. 

They also used Instagram and Twitter to wish Prince Harry a happy 36th birthday last week.

They posted: “Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today!”

This was accompanied by similar emojis and a picture of the Cambridges and Harry racing each other at a 2017 event supporting their Heads Together mental health campaign.
