The Duchess of Cambridge also spilled a number of diet secrets, making the revelation that her favourite fruit derives from the tropics of Americas: papaya. Her breakfast routine was discussed with youngsters at Stockwell Garden Nursery in London.

Michelle Samuels, the nursery’s manager, told today.com that Kate had discussed favourite foods with her children.

Ms Samuels said: “She mentioned to the children that her own children enjoy apples and cereal in the morning, which sparked a conversation with the children about their own preference of fruits.

“She mentioned that she likes papaya to a child who was reluctant to try a piece of papaya. After this, the child tried some papaya.”

The 39-year-old is known to start her day with kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, coriander and blueberry juice – with a hint of spirulina, a nutritious blue-green algae. She is also a fan of morning oatmeal.

Prince William, 38, is known to be a fan of fry-ups. He said in a 2009 interview with The Telegraph: “I love a fry-up but only with brown bread.”

Speaking to TV cook Mary Berry, Kate mentioned former favourite recipes of Prince William – and hailed his breakfast skills.

She said: “In university days he used to cook all sorts of meals.

“I think that’s when he was trying to impress me, Mary! Things like bolognese sauce, and things like that.
