London police have been forced to intervene with large crowds on the capital streets on Thursday night. Clashes between the police and people protesting the impending coronavirus lockdown set to come into effect at midnight. Footage has begun circulating on social media of police detaining individuals for their behaviour during these protests.

In one video, an individual can be seen being tackled to the ground before being apprehended by two other officers.

More police quickly rush in to surround the police officers apprehending the individuals as a public crowd starts to form.

The crowd quickly begin booing loudly as many pull out their phone to record the incident.

In a press briefing on Thursday evening, Boris Johnson insisted a second national lockdown was necessary to stop the spread of the virus.

He also addressed his recent criticisms and sceptics and claimed that measures would be relaxed on December 2nd as planned.

Mr Johnson admitted he was aware of the frustrations of Britons going into another lockdown, however.

He said: ” The advice I have received suggests that four weeks is enough for these measures to make a real impact.

“These rules will expire and on December 2 we plan to move back to a tiered approach. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

“These are difficult times. While it pains me to have to ask once again for so many to give up so much, I know we can get through this.”
