Manchester news: Police and bomb disposal unit on site as mass evacuation begins | UK | News (Reports)

Police, ambulances and bomb disposal units were spotted shortly after 10pm on Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield, according to Manchester Evening News. The bomb unit is currently assessing “suspicious items” found at a property in the area.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police are in attendance at a property on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield following the discovery of suspicious items within the property.

​”A property has been evacuated as a precaution while enquiries are ongoing.

​”Bomb disposal are due to make an assessment of items found within the property.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat.”

An area was cordoned at approximately 11.30pm between the shell petrol station on Wilmslow Road and Victoria Road.

The section was later broadened, stretching to Derby Road.

Present at the scene there are approximately five police cars, two riot vans, two incident response units from North West Ambulance Service and an officer from the fire service, Manchester Evening News reported.
