What will newborn’s line of succession for new Sussex baby be?

Royal family experts have confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new baby will be eighth in line to the throne.

The first seven places will of course remain unchanged, with the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince George first in line.

This trio will then be followed by Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Harry and Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

Prince Harry has retained his place in the line of succession despite quitting royal life, and dropping his HRH style.

Princess Beatrice, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, will proceed to move to 10th in line following the birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s second baby.

Princess Eugenie, Andrew’s youngest, will also be removed from the top 10 in line to the throne altogether.

The new mother will proceed to become 11th in line, and her as-yet unnamed son will move to 12th place.

Baby Sussex will either be the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s 10th or 11th great-grandchild, depending on whether he or she is born before or after Zara Tindall’s baby – with the due date yet to be officially announced.
