Harry and Meghan amassed more than 10 million Instagram followers as working royals. But now, a source close to the couple said they had “no plans” to use social media for their new Archewell Foundation.

The source also said they were “very unlikely” to return to social media in a personal capacity.

When they stepped down, they issued a statement regarding the use of social media and the hope to speak “directly” to fans on the Sussex Royal website.

Their statement said: “Yes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to have a social media platform.

“They look forward to continuing their use of social media and believe that their updated media approach will enable them to share more, with you, directly.”

During an appearance on the Teenager Therapy podcast, Meghan said the online abuse she experienced while pregnant left her feeling “isolated”.

She said: “I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female.

“Now, eight months of that I wasn’t even visible – I was on maternity leave or with a baby.

“If people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging.

They officially ended royal duties back in March in a bid to become financially independent from the Firm.

They agreed to stop using their HRH titles and drop their SussexRoyal brand before stepping down as working royals.

The couple has signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify as they pursue a life of personal and financial freedom.

Megxit arrangements are expected to be reviewed by the Queen in March this year.

According to the Sunday Times, the pair will attend the Queen’s official birthday celebrations on June 12.

The last royal event Meghan and Harry appeared at was the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service in Westminster Abbey.

This took place at the end of March and was the Duke and Duchesses’ final engagement before stepping aside as senior royals.

A royal aide said: “The current plan is for the Queen’s birthday parade to go ahead in London as normal, with the acceptance that it may need to be adapted or scaled back depending on what guidelines are in force at the time.

“But the aspiration and the ultimate desire is to make it happen.”
