On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, alongside husband Prince Harry, were featured on ABC’s Time100 TV special, where she urged viewers to vote in the upcoming US election. And last night, Meghan videoed herself encouraging US singer Archie Williams, who was vying to win this year’s America’s Got Talent season.
First place ultimately went to Brandon Leake, a spoken word poet, although the Duchess’ supportive video is still available on Twitter.
Meghan joked her backing for the singer was not just because he shares a first name with her own one-year-old son.
She said: “I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been so moved by your story, and we have been cheering you on every week, and it’s not just because we’re partial to the name.
“So a very special message to you that I will probably be saying all of my life, but on this night it is specifically for you.
“Archie, we are proud of you, and we are rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do. We’re in your corner.”
Mr Williams made headlines in March last year, after a courthouse ruled he had been wrongly imprisoned for a crime he was eventually judged not to have committed.

Mr Williams was initially jailed based on visual identification, though as technology improved it was later revealed none of the fingerprints at the crime scene were his, the news channel adds.
Technology further improved, and investigators eventually released Mr Williams decades after his initial arrest, determining another suspect – who had died in custody in 1996 – may have committed the crime instead.
Aside from her appearance on TV to back Mr Williams, Meghan urged US citizens to vote in what she called “the most important election of our lifetime.”
She added: “When we vote, our values are put into action, and our voices are heard.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry called on viewers to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity” in the run-up to the presidential election.
He said: “What we consume, what we are exposed to, and what we engage with online, has a real effect on all of us.”
The US is due to go to the polls on November 3, when they will either choose to replace current president Donald Trump with someone else or allow him to remain in the White House for four more years.
The president recently blasted Meghan Markle during a White House press briefing, saying “I’m not a fan of hers.”
He added: “I would say this – and she has probably heard that – I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he’s probably going to need it.”
So far, the Duke and Duchess have not explicitly backed any particular presidential candidate.
