Meghan is to mark her first American Thanksgiving in the US with her husband Prince Harry and son Archie Harrison this year. However, the family-of-three will need to adapt to the new anti-COVID-19 regulations put in place by California Governor Gavin Newsom if they want to celebrate what is believed to be the Duchess of Sussex’s favourite holiday.
Mr Newsom ruled celebrations must take place outside, where the risk of infection is lower, and no more than three households can mix at a single event.
Masks must be worn at all times unless people are eating and drinking.
Singing, chanting and shouting are “strongly discouraged” activities, as droplets are believed to be travelling further and faster in these instances.
Moreover, Thanksgiving parties and celebrations can only last up to two hours.

The Department of Public Health said in a statement: “Gatherings that occur outdoors are significantly safer than indoor gatherings.
“All gatherings must be held outside.
“Attendees may go inside to use restrooms as long as the restrooms are frequently sanitised.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic, California has recorded more than 900,000 coronavirus cases.

As Meghan, Harry and Archie have been living in a mansion with a large garden since early July, the family may still be able to celebrate Thanksgiving as close to normal as possible.
The Duchess is known to love preparing the meal on the day and has in the past shared pictures and recipes to mark Thanksgiving.
In 2016, the then-Suits actress revealed she had previously cooked the “perfect Thanksgiving turkey” on her personal, and now deleted, Instagram account.
In the picture, Meghan was smiling to the camera while bent towards a big roasted turkey in the garden at her house in Toronto.

Sharing the snap in 2016, Meghan said: “Oh, that time I roasted a pretty perfect Thanksgiving turkey!
“The question is, can I do it again? The pressure is on!”
In a blog post published on her lifestyle website The Tig, Meghan also spoke of her lighter take on a Thanksgiving dinner.
Sharing a recipe for an oven-roasted chicken, Meghan promised it would make everyone feel “the King and Queen of happy bellies”.

She wrote: “I love a brined, stuffed and roasted turkey as much as anyone, but if you’re cooking for two, maybe a smaller bird is more up your alley – and coupled with a beautiful side and a delicious dessert, you will be The King or Queen of happy bellies and full hearts.”
Meghan continued praising the benefits of this recipe, to be followed by almond butter bites dipped in chocolate.
She said: “I would say this is some gobble gobble good cooking.
Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their first Thanksgiving as parents in Canada, in the company of Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland.

While they were far from the public eye, the couple decided to mark the day with an Instagram post.
Published on their then-official account Sussex Royal, Harry and Meghan wrote: “Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
In the run-up to this American holiday, royal author Katie Nicholl said Meghan would be in charge of the meal.
She told OK! magazine: “Meghan loves being in the kitchen.
“She’s a talented chef and takes great pleasure in bringing people together over a family meal.”
