Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, have bought their first home together in Santa Barbara, California and are understood to have been based their with Archie Harrison for several weeks. The couple joined virtual conferences and calls while they were staying at actor Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion but tomorrow could see Meghan give fans a glimpse of the inside as she takes part in the event from her new home.

Santa Barbara is about a two-hour drive from Meghan’s hometown Los Angeles and is something of a celebrity haunt.

Big names including Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Cruise own homes in the upmarket neighbourhood of Montecito.

While it’s not confirmed whereabouts in Santa Barbara Meghan and Harry are based, they will by no means be the only famous faces in town.

Earlier this week a spokesperson for the couple confirmed: “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbours, as well as for them as a family.”

While Meghan and Harry are protective of their privacy, fans will be excited to get a glimpse of Meghan and Harry’s new home as the couple continue their work by taking part in virtual summits and video calls.

Meghan is due to close the final day of the virtual 19th Represents Summit on Friday.

The four-day gender and politics summit was launched to “empower all women and gender diverse people with the information, community and tools they need to be equal participants in our democracy” and includes guest speakers Hillary Clinton and Melinda Gates among others.

So far speakers have joined the summit via video calls from their homes and Meghan is expected to do the same tomorrow – meaning we may just see a snapshot inside the couple’s new abode.

Meghan will close the summit on August 14 by interviewing the event’s co-founder and CEO Emily Ramshaw.

Since stepping down as a senior royal Meghan has been free to align herself with political matters during Friday’s event she is expected to air her views.

One royal commentator has claimed this latest appearance from the Duchess could see her showcase her credentials as a future Democratic Party candidate.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “This will be particularly interesting as Meghan will be asking the questions, which will centre on how to build a diverse and representative newsroom and lift up those who are too often underrepresented, emphasising gender equity, diversity and community.”

Mr Fitzwilliams added: “She and Harry recently joined the Harry Walker Agency, which handles top public speakers such as the Clintons and the Obamas, in June.

“We know Meghan’s views on privacy and the press.

“We also know how keen she is as an activist and her participation at this high-profile event, which has Hillary Clinton and Melinda Gates among the speakers, will give the issues she supports a further boost.”

He added: “It comes after her excellent speech at the Girl Up Leadership Summit which was empowering and could easily have been that of a Democratic Party politician.”

Earlier this week Meghan was among 100 influential women to share why she planned to vote in November’s US election with Marie Claire.

Meghan said: “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless.

“I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.

“And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard.”

“One of my favourite quotes, and one that my husband and I have referred to often, is from Kate Sheppard, a leader in the suffragist movement in New Zealand, who said, ‘Do not think your single vote does not matter much.

“The rain that refreshes the parched ground is made up of single drops.’ That is why I vote.”
