The shock reveal of the royals relationship came in an interview with Omid Scobie, co-author of the explosive tell-all Finding Freedom. The new biography, also written with Carolyn Durand, gives a glimpse into Meghan and Prince Harry’s exit from the Royal Family. The couple made their shocking departure on March 31 this year, and now live in Los Angeles.

While the royal sisters-in-law were never “at war”, Finding Freedom suggests that Kate and Meghan “struggled to move past distant politeness”.

Mr Scobie suggested in an interview with Good Morning America that Kate and Meghan had few similarities, which helped kindle their feud.

He said: “These are two women that really have very little in common.

“I think being a newcomer and knowing that Kate was once a newcomer, I think there were times where she, from speaking to sources, knew that Meghan felt that she could of or needed a little bit more support from Kate and didn’t get it in some of those important moments.”

The new biography has shed new light on the strained relationship between Kate and Meghan.

Mr Scobie and Ms Durand wrote in Finding Freedom that Meghan hoped that Kate would be able to help her integrate into the Royal Family.

The authors claimed Meghan looked to Kate to fill her in on “everything an outsider to the Firm needed to know”, but “that was not how things turned out”.

They added: “Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it.”

According to Finding Freedom, Harry and Prince William were at odds when the Duke of Cambridge warned his brother about “getting to know this girl”.

William’s warning about rushing into a relationship with Meghan made Harry enraged, leading to a breakdown in communications which Kate did not help smooth over.

Mr Scobie and Ms Durand said: “Though it was not necessarily her responsibility, Kate did little to bridge the divide.

“She was fiercely loyal to her husband and his family.”

Mr Scobie and Ms Durand claimed Meghan felt as though Kate failed to make much of an effort in bridging the divide between the two royals after her wedding to Harry.

They said in the tell-all: “Meghan would agree with the assessment that the duchesses were not the best of friends … just didn’t know each other that well.”

But sources close to the Cambridge royals shot down the books claims, and said they “couldn’t have been more welcoming” to Meghan.

They added: “How can you say they weren’t warm or welcoming when they hosted Meghan for Christmas, invited her into their totally private inner sanctum at Anmer Hall and did everything they could to make her feel at home?

“They personally cooked her favourite vegan food.”

Meghan and Harry’s bombshell Royal Family departure announcement came the day before Kate’s birthday.

A Royal source told Us Weekly that the two duchesses could not have been “further apart” at that point.

But royal expert Victoria Arbiter, as well as Mr Scobie and Ms Durand in Finding Freedom, suggests there was never a “rift” between Kate and Meghan.

Ms Arbiter added” “Kate and Meghan are very different women from very different backgrounds, and as such it’s daft to assume that just because their husbands are brothers they have to be immediate besties.”
