Meghan and Prince Harry shocked the world last year when they announced they would be stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. The couple is aiming to become financially independent from the Firm.

And now, Robert Lacey – author of Battle of Brothers – has said it will not be the end of Meghan.

Mr Lacey said: “Meghan is the member of the family who is the most outsider of them all, a self-made woman who is coming into an ancient institution, and I think she’s going to have to change a great deal in reaction to the impact that she has.

“I am immensely attracted to her ambitions and activism; I don’t agree with all her ideas or her politics, but I admire her energy, and I think a lot more is going to happen before we hear the end of Meghan Markle.”

Since leaving the Firm, Meghan and Harry have been living in California with their son, Archie and have since signed mega-deals with Spotify and Netflix.

Royal biographer Penny Junor said the couple’s deal with Netflix was already controversial because the firm produced The Crown, with the latest season four straying away from facts while exploring the troubled life of Harry’s late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

She said: “I think unhappily, it is very difficult to square up being a member of the royal family with commercial activity because there are bear traps everywhere.

“I’m sure it never crossed Harry and Meghan’s minds about The Crown, possibly being negative or damaging when they got their wonderful contract from Netflix.

“But the problem is that they left those gold standard advisers when they left Buckingham Palace, when they turned their back on the help that they were getting.”

“We do not know the details of what he said to Harry, but if he pointed out that this woman that he [Harry] loved was a self-made Hollywood celebrity and a self-made millionairess who created her own celebrity, a self-sufficient woman like this who was ambitious and campaigning her belief in women’s rights and hr wish to promote social change.

“These are radical initiatives, radical impulses; do they fit inside the rather safe and conservative British Royal Family?

“If those are the sort of objections and queries that William raised, well, events have proved them right, didn’t they?

“This was a woman who couldn’t fit inside the Royal Family, so, as a result, she’s no longer royal.”

As part of their separation deal, they agreed to have a 12-month review with the Palace, which is due on March 31.

Harry was said to have planned to request a face-to-face meeting with the Queen in the UK.

But a ban on non-essential travel as part of England’s third lockdown and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the US means the couple will not be able to travel from their new home in California.

Royal sources told Mirror Online that Harry has “not yet attempted to contact” the Queen to arrange a meeting of his 12-month royal review.
But he is expected to arrange a solution in the coming weeks.
