Meghan is said to have taken Prince Harry to Immaculate Heart High School in early September. During their secret visit, the Duke of Sussex reportedly showed various areas of the institute – including the “lovely stage” where the Duchess performed as a teenager.

Meghan and Harry headed to the all-girls Catholic school before the beginning of terms, when pupils were still on holidays, according to the Duchess’ former drama teacher Gigi Perreau.

The 79-year-old claimed to have been told about this visit while speaking to “someone from the school”.

Ms Perreau said: “I happened to be speaking to someone from the school and he told me that Meghan had brought her husband and showed him around.

“I thought that was really kind of fun.

“I believe it was the beginning of last month, there were no students there, just one woman who is in charge of publicity and things for the school, she was the one who took them around.

“The alums certainly know about it.

“I was delighted that Prince Harry got a chance to see the school and see the lovely stage that Meghan performed many shows on.

“I think it’s a very special place and I’m glad that her years there were so important to her that she wanted to share that with him.

“There’s a lovely camaraderie, a sisterhood, and pandas are our mascot.

“Even sometimes on the alumni Zoom we have on weekends they say, ‘Well Panda Meghan said…’ and laugh about it.”

Speaking to the Sun she continued: “I belong to two different alumni associations. I went to school there and graduated in 1958, and then I taught there for 23 years and there’s something about the school.”

Ms Perreau, who started her successful career in cinema as a child actress in the 1940s, travelled to Britain in May 2018 to take part in the coverage of the Sussexes’ royal wedding.

The actress was among the thousands of people standing across the Long Walk in Windsor, through which Meghan and Harry passed on a carriage after tying the knot.

Meghan was filmed by a TV host standing next to Ms Perreau waving at their direction.

After gazing by chance towards Ms Perreau, the Duchess looked positively shocked, leaving the drama teacher to think she had recognised her.

Meghan virtually returned to Immaculate Heart in June, when she delivered an impassionate speech to the graduating class of 2020.

Being recorded just a few days after the death of George Floyd in Minnesota, this speech entirely focused on the Black Lives Matter movement.

After recalling her own memory of the riots in LA following the arrest and beating of Rodney King, the Duchess expressed her sorrow for the teenagers graduating.

She said: “And I can’t imagine that at 17 or 18 years old, which is how old you are now, that you would have to have a different version of that same type of experience.

“That’s something you should have an understanding of but an understanding of as a history lesson, not as your reality.

“So I am sorry in a way that we have not gotten the world to the place that you deserve it to be.”

Meghan continued with a rallying cry, urging young people to take part in the process of “rebuilding the foundation”.

She said: “Now all of that work gets activated. Now you get to be part of rebuilding.

“And I know sometimes people say how many times do we need to rebuild?

“Well, you know, we are going to rebuild and rebuild and rebuild until it is rebuilt.

“Because when the foundation is broken, so are we.

“You are going to lead with love, you are going to lead with compassion, you are going to use your voice.”
