Prince Edward takes on new Royal Family role as Prince Philip asks son to take the reins | Royal | News (Reports)

The Earl of Wessex Prince Edward has stepped up his role in the Royal Family after a request from Prince Philip. The Royal Family released a video on Twitter on Wednesday evening of Prince Edward highlight the important work of charity London Funders as they received the 2020 Prince Philip Award. This comes after Prince Philip asked Prince Edward to become the patron of youth group London Youth. 

In the congratulatory video, Prince Edward said: “We believe London Funders are worthy recipients of this year’s Prince Philip award. 

“It is not just to recognise their support but also our way of expressing our heartfelt thanks to all the funders.

“Never ever underestimate what your support means and how much it is appreciated.”
