Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, paid back the £2.4million of taxpayers’ money used to renovate Frogmore Cottage after signing a deal with Netflix and royal commentators claim it was a “**** you” to the Royal Family. A spokesman for Harry confirmed the Duke had settled the bill in full by making a contribution to the Sovereign Grant. The payment was made possible thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new multi-million pound Netflix deal, a source said.

Speaking on the HeirHeads podcast, presenter Meadhbh said: “The big news for us was that Harry made the very smart move of immediately sending a fat cheque over to repay the cost of renovations on Frogmore Cottage plus a little bit more for rent.”

Co-presenter Tom added: “It was such a relief to us when he did this.

“We had said the week before when we reported he had done this deal, we said he should send that cheque in the post.

“The £2.4million that every single critical piece of them brought up over and over again as though they are the only royals who have had millions spent on a property that they’re never in.”

Meadhbh continued: “I thought it was a boss move.”

While Tom said: “It was a great **** you.

“They’ve actually made more money than you’ve ever made in your entire life.”

It comes as royal biographer Angela Levin claimed that the couple need to earn money for the upkeep of their home.

“Where are they all being housed? They must have an office now.”

Ms Levin said: “I don’t know about that but I do know they have something to work on and that’s finding enough people to give them honours for all the things that they’ve wanted them to do.”

She went on to warn the royal couple against trying to “compete” with Queen Elizabeth II.

They are reportedly set to launch their own honours list to highlight the work being done to promote causes close to the couple’s heart.
