The two brothers, rumoured to be feuding after a furious breakdown in relations, have had “many private conversations” since the worrying family news in March, according to royal biographer Omid Scobie. Similarly, he added, the brothers have likely spoken to one another in July, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told their closest relatives within the Royal Family Meghan had a miscarriage.

Mr Scobie, author of Finding Freedom, told OK! magazine: “I know that Harry and William had many private conversations when their father was ill with COVID.”

“Similarly with Meghan’s miscarriage, it’s understandable that this tragedy would cause the foursome to stay in touch and check in on one another.”

The belief Meghan’s tragedy may “encourage communication” between the young royals is shared by another royal expert, Katie Nicholl.

She told the magazine: “I’m told that William and Kate were in touch with Harry and Meghan when this happened in July.

“The whole family has reached out to offer support.

“I don’t know if the Royal Family were aware she was set to go public with this but they would think it was a hugely brave thing to do.

“I do think a situation like this is what will help heal rifts and bring the family back together.

“Hard times like this encourage communication.”

Meghan announced she had lost her second baby in a deeply personal essay published in late November by the New York Times.

The tragedy, she said, took place on a normal morning in July after she had changed Archie’s nappy.

She wrote: “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp.

“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second”.

Meghan’s words have been praised by the public as well as charities supporting people who have suffered miscarriages and baby loss for breaking the stigma surrounding this topic.

Harry and William have been widely reported to be involved in a rift which split the once inseparable brothers.

Mr Scobie, as well as another royal author Robert Lacey, said in their recent books the rift is believed to have exploded after the Duke of Cambridge told the Duke of Sussex to take his time when he was first dating Meghan.

Prince William has never publicly commented reports of the rift.

Prince Harry, during an interview with ITV presenter Tom Bradby, was quizzed on his relationship with his brother.

Appearing on the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, the Duke of Sussex said: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under.

“Inevitably, you know, stuff happens. But we’re brothers. We’ll always be brothers.

“We are certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him as I know he will always be there for me.

“We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy but I love him dearly.

“The majority of the stuff is created out of nothing but as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.”

Harry and William are believed to have last met each other in person during the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
