During the Royally Obsessed podcast, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed the possibility of Prince Harry becoming a US citizen. Ms Bowie highlighted the fact the Duke of Sussex’s mother Princess Diana talked about moving to New York and stated that Prince Harry is following in her footsteps.

Ms Bowie said: “He is very invested in American culture, politics and values.

“I think it could be interesting, will he become a citizen of the US?

“I don’t know it could be a stretch.”

Ms Fiorito added: “For a long time the US has had a very strong relationship with the UK so I feel like he has grown up watching that.”

Ms Bowie replied: “Princess Diana talked about moving to New York for so long.

“She really wanted to be living in the United States and get away from it all.

“So I would not be surprised, as he is following in Diana’s footsteps more than we thought.”

Last year, Prince Harry issued a statement before the US election, which some took to be a rejection of Donald Trump.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry strongly encouraged US citizens to vote in the 2020 Presidential vote.

Graham Smith, Republic’s CEO, told Express.co.uk the pair should stay out of politics while retaining their titles.

He said: “I think there is an issue that Harry and Meghan are still Duke and Duchess and attached to the Royal Family even though they are not so-called working royals.

“They are expected to be out of politics.”
