Prince William, 36, has kept in touch with Prince Harry, 36, after he stepped down as a senior royal in March with his wife, Meghan Markle, 39. But royal expert Dan Wootton has claimed the Duke of Cambridge feels like he cannot help Harry anymore. He noted that William stood by Harry through years of “bad behaviour”.

Speaking to True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat, Mr Wootton said: “He’s spent years trying to look after Harry and I think he feels like there is nothing he can do.

“He did everything he could to protect Harry over many, many years.

“We don’t know a lot behind the scenes with some of Harry’s bad behaviour.

“William was always there for Harry so I have a lot of sympathy for William with how this has turned out.”

Royal expert Katie Nicholl added that the brothers will not be close in the same way again.

She revealled Harry has sent Christmas presents to the Princes William and Louis and Princess Charlotte in an attempt to heal the rift with his brother.

Ms Nicholl said: “I don’t think they ever will be close in the same way that they were before.

“But I do think there have been nine months since Megxit and relations are better between them.

But royal expert Marlene Koenig said as the newcomer, Meghan should have approached Kate.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Koenig said: “William has taken a different attitude and I think at some point they’re going to have to do something.

“I think there’s far more to this story that we don’t know on both sides. One of the things I said in my review is how Meghan kept saying Kate didn’t contact her.

“My view is if you’re the newbie, in a new job, you go to somebody and say, ‘Hi, can we talk? I’d like to know more about what I’m marrying into’.

“She’s a smart, educated woman. She never put a foot wrong.”
