Princess Diana ‘savvy’ with photographers says expert
Lightbox, the production company behind the film ‘Whitney’ about the late Whitney Houston, is asking fans to send in their own video footage of Princess Diana. It will be reproduced alongside archive material in a “landmark theatrical documentary”, the film company said.
The narrative hopes to create an immersive effect using the never-before-seen clips.
According to Yahoo, company co-founder Simon Chinn explained how the company wants to create a film about Princess Diana “that’s never been done before”.
He said: “We are currently looking for any footage of the Princess of Wales that might have been shot by any fans or members of the public.
“Our aim is to tell the story of the Princess of Wales in a way that’s never been done before, exclusively through archive footage, as if the story was unfolding in the present.

“As part of that we very much want to reflect the experience of people across the country who came into contact with her and managed to capture that moment on film.”
Mr Chinn said the Princess of Wales had a unique “ability to connect with people” which made her “special”.
He added that this is a “huge part” of the story the production company wants to portray.
Mr Chinn said: “Diana famously said she wanted to be seen as ‘the Queen of people’s hearts’ and it was her ability to connect with people – and reach them emotionally – even in the most fleeting of interactions that made her special and this is a huge part of the story that we want to tell.

“In addition, if anybody has footage of the wedding day celebrations on July 29, 1981, such as the street parties that took place up and down the country, or if anyone might have filmed the week leading up to Diana’s funeral in 1997, we would be grateful for them to get in touch, as this type of home movie footage will allow us to re-tell these two historic events through the eyes of the public.”
The film is expected to be titled ‘Diana’ and released in 2022.
Submissions of video footage are encouraged regardless of quality.
Director Ed Perkins added: “Our intention is to make an insightful, intelligent and thoughtful film that will pay tribute to Diana’s life, as well as the world which shaped it and which she helped to shape.
“We will approach this story, as we do with all the films we undertake, with the sensitivity, compassion and respect that it deserves.”

The late Princess of Wales was beloved by many royal fans during her marriage to Prince Charles and after their divorce.
Netflix’s hit royal show, The Crown, has reignited the public attention towards Princess Diana.
The streaming platform released the controversial fourth season of the show which portrays the relationship between the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Concern grew last year when royal commentators claimed the show will cause lasting damage to the Royal Family.
In November, the Government’s culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, urged Netflix to make it clear that the royal series is “fiction”.

He told the Mail on Sunday: “It’s a beautifully produced work of fiction, so as with other TV productions, Netflix should be very clear at the beginning it is just that.
“Without this, I fear a generation of viewers who did not live through these events may mistake fiction for fact.”
Mr Dowden pleaded with the streaming giant to add what some have called a “health warning” at the start of each episode.
Representatives from Netflix said The Crown will not receive a disclaimer before each episode claiming it is clear the series is “a work of fiction”.
In a statement, Netflix said: “We have always presented ‘The Crown’ as a drama – and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events. As a result we have no plans – and see no need – to add a disclaimer.”
