The jibe came after it emerged their new website can collect and share users’ data. Meghan and Prince Harry have embraced new tactics to make their post-royal life a success, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. And they are ready to pursue their goal of becoming financially independent “at almost any cost”, the expert warned.
He said: “For the Sussexes it’s about who has the deepest pockets, they want to prove to the world, especially the Windsors, they will become financially independent and at almost any cost.
“Harry and Meghan now see their future as commercial and political, Netflix, for example, was about mirroring the Obamas.
“Overnight they adapted, they adjusted, they embraced video technology, the digital medium as a means of communicating with the public.”
“There was an extraordinary shift and a lot of hard work behind-the-scenes in order to make that new way of working possible. They are determined to succeed at all cost,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
Since they officially stepped down as senior royals, Meghan and Harry have struck deals with the Henry Walker agency for their future speaking engagements, Netflix and Spotify.
In late December, they signalled they are gearing up for the launch of their Archewell Foundation by updating its website.
Archewell.com now features an open letter to 2021, in which Meghan and Harry invite people to join their efforts to build a better world with “one act of compassion at a time”.
But the Sussexes’ website, which contains information on both their foundation and work as video and audio producers, came under stark criticism after eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed among the fine prints Meghan and Harry are noticing subscribers and users of their website could see their data and details shared with “for-profit ventures”.

A privacy notice on Archewell reads: “We may share the information we collect with other parties, including the following: with third-party service providers who process data on our behalf, such as email service providers; with other charitable, nonprofit, and for-profit ventures associated with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex that exist now or may be established in the future; as part of a prospective or completed sale, merger, or acquisition, or other transfer of all or part of our assets, including in the event of a bankruptcy proceeding; pursuant to a subpoena, court order, governmental inquiry, or other legal process or as otherwise required or permitted by law (which may include lawful access by foreign courts, law enforcement or other government authorities in the jurisdictions in which we or our authorised third-party service providers operate), or to protect our rights or the rights of third parties; or with your consent or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing.
“We may share information that has been de-identified or aggregated without limitation.”
The couple has relinquished their roles as full-time working royals also to protect the privacy of themselves and their one-year-old son.

8am update: Meghan Markle’s never-before-seen photo with mum Doria sparks tense debate over selection
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s “selection” of photographs from their childhood with their mothers has “sparked off a bit of a debate” among royal experts who also noted that the picture of the Duchess and Doria Ragland had never been published before.
A new picture of Meghan Markle with her mother, Doria Ragland, has been published on the Archewell website.
ITV Royal Rota podcast hosts Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson discussed the images released, and why they had “definitely sparked off a bit of a debate”.
Ms Robinson told listeners: “The website has gone live, and with that, there was this letter to 2021.
“We know that for them Archewell is all about building a better world.
“They say, ‘one act of compassion at a time’.
“There were only two images on there, and they weren’t particularly clear.”
Mr Ship added: “There’s Meghan with her mother, Doria Ragland, and Harry with his mum, Princess Diana.
“There’s no mention of either father at all in this website for whatever reason.
“Those are the only two pictures that are on there, which did spark a particular debate.
“The one of Doria and Meghan we haven’t actually seen before, that’s a new picture.”
“The other one we’ve seen of Harry and Princess Diana.
“It definitely sparked off a bit of a debate about the wisdom of selecting the mothers rather than the fathers.
“The letter does start off, ‘I am my mother’s son, and I am our son’s mother. Together we bring you Archewell’.”
