Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to Santa Barbra, California, earlier this year, following their decision to step back from royal duties. As December nears, an insider revealed the couple are excited to celebrate the festivities in their new surroundings.

Meghan and Harry are looking forward to their first holiday season in California with their 19-month-old son Archie.

A source told PEOPLE magazine the family of three is “excited to decorate for Christmas” in the coming weeks.

They added the couple are “very happy” and said: “Archie is thriving and growing quickly. As a family, they spend hours outside.”

A second insider revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan on spending Christmas with Grammy-winning producer David Foster and his wife, actress Katharine McPhee.

The source told the Mirror: “Meghan very much wants to host the first Christmas at their new home with her mum.

“She’s really excited and planning on doing all the traditions she grew up with as a child, including the cooking.

“They’ve also invited David and Katharine to spend it with them. David had mentioned Harry and Meghan going to theirs but Meghan wants it at home.

“They want to get on with their new lives. Christmas with Harry’s family is not in the plan.”

It will mark the second year Meghan and Harry will have spent Christmas away from the Queen and other royals – having spent the last festive season with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland and their son Archie in Canada.

The Queen’s Christmas plans will be markedly different this year, as she will have to choose just two households to celebrate the festivities with, in line with Boris Johnson’s Christmas coronavirus bubble rules.
