Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, and Prince Edward, 56, live at Bagshot Park in Surrey. The royal residence was a gift to the couple from Queen Elizabeth II, 94, following their wedding in 1999. The Surrey residence is where Sophie and Edward have brought up their two children – Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12.
Why Sophie and Edward could face spending lockdown without Lady Louise
Sophie and Edward’s eldest Lady Louise Windsor is a pupil at private girls school St Mary’s Ascot.
Lady Louise has entered sixth form in the autumn and is understood to be a boarder at the school.
Given that schools will remain open when England enters a four-week lockdown tomorrow it may be that Lady Louise remains at school for its duration.

The Cambridges spent the first lockdown in Norfolk but this time they may choose to remain in the capital so that Prince George and Princess Charlotte don’t miss school.
The second lockdown is scheduled to last until December 2 when different regions of England will be placed into different tiers of restrictions depending on their COVID-19 infection rates.
Princess Anne is known for her tireless dedication to royal duty and the Princess Royal carried out her last engagement before lockdown on Tuesday with a visit to a pharmaceutical firm making hand sanitiser during the pandemic.
On Wednesday Prince Edward took part in an important video to announce the winner of this year’s Prince Philip Award.
The Royal Family’s official Twitter account shared a clip of Edward announcing the important news.
The tweet read: “The Earl of Wessex, Patron, @LondonYouth, today presented the charity’s 2020 Prince Philip Award to London Funders.
“London Funders has supported @LondonYouth’s services and clubs for young people, enabling them to stay open and operational during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Prince Edward has stepped into his father’s Prince Philip’s shoes since the Duke’s retirement in 2017.
Edward will likely one day inherit his father’s Duke of Edinburgh title.
