Sarah ‒ affectionately known as Fergie ‒ used to be married to Prince Andrew, and their wedding photos were absolutely stunning. However, one particular photograph of the couple on the Buckingham Palace balcony had a distracting figure in front of them. A little flower girl is picking her nose in the picture ‒ and Fergie revealed on The Graham Norton Show that the girl was actually Zara.

Chat show host Graham Norton said: “Sarah, your wedding was an amazing day.

“We’ve got a picture of you, and here you are on the balcony.

“Not sure what the crowd are shouting, the crowd could be shouting ‘give her a kiss’ or they could be shouting ‘your flower girl is picking her nose’. Who is that?”

Fergie then informed him that it was Zara Phillips, as she was known at the time in 2009.

Comedian Ed Byrne, who was sharing the sofa with the Duchess of York, joked that Zara was just an element of her outfit.

He said: “Is she just standing there or did you have her strapped to you as a sort of decoration, a very ornate dress?”

Imitating Fergie, he said: “‘Yes, I’ve had it decorated in sequins and children.’”

The audience laughed, as Mr Norton then joked that the other flower girl ‒ who turned out to be Princess Diana’s niece ‒ looked like she was covering her nose, because someone had made a smell.

Zara is now 39, married and with two children of her own ‒ Mia, 6, and Lena, 2.

Fergie, 60, divorced Andrew in 1996 but the two have remained close in the intervening years.

They even lived together at The Royal Lodge for many years after their split.

Fergie also revealed on The Graham Norton Show that she was living in a flat in Clapham when she was first dating her future royal husband.

She said she was “very proud” of Clapham, and joked that Clapham Common was on her wedding list.

Andrew used to come round to her flat and reportedly could not believe that everything was “in one room”, because she was renting the ground floor for £30/week.

Fergie described how she did not even have a wardrobe, just a laundry rail and hung everything on the laundry rail.

She exclaimed: “I was a single working girl!”

Mr Norton joked: “Don’t make it sound dubious!”

The host then asked whether they had bodyguards during their dates and she said yes, adding that she “probably had to get on better with the policemen” so that they would say nice things about her on the drive back.
