Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born at 5.26 am on May 6, 2019, at the Portland Hospital in London. Shortly following his son’s birth, Prince Harry gave an interview in Windsor in which he said the couple were “still thinking about names”. He added: “The baby was a little overdue so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it. That’s the next bit.”

However, it has since been revealed that this was not the case, and the couple had actually come up with the name long before Archie arrived.

Finding Freedom, written by journalists Omid Scobie and Caroline Durand, reveals: “Harry and Meghan already had a name ready to go when Archie was born, because the couple had known all along that they were having a boy.

“According to a source, they settled on their son’s name some time during the final week of her pregnancy.”

The book adds the couple chose to name their son Archie for a special and thoughtful reason.

According to Finding Freedom, the couple wanted a traditional but powerful name.

They finally opted on the name Archie for their new-born son, which holds a meaning of strength and bravery.

The royal biography also appears to confirm Meghan went past her due date of April 28, something which is never normally disclosed with the announcement of a royal pregnancy.

At the time, Kensington Palace simply said the couple were expecting their first child in Spring 2019.

Finding Freedom further states the colour scheme of said baby shower, which was coordinated by Jennifer Zabinski of JZ events, who planned Serena Williams’ 2017 wedding, featured “blues, pinks, yellows and greens”.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom.

“This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”

According to the book, Meghan had originally considered delivering Archie via a home birth at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor.

It states that “while Meghan was originally interested in a home birth, as she entered her final trimester, she chose to deliver in a hospital”.

A source told the authors: “I know there were stories about a home birth, and it was certainly something that was discussed early on, but Meg knew it would be a hospital birth for a few months.”

The source added: “All she cared about was having the baby in the safest way possible.

“She was more and more nervous as she approached the due date, so I would say in some ways that it was a relief for her to be doing it in a traditional hospital.”
