English town Tynemouth saw streams of people descend upon the beach and the local area on Sunday afternoon. Despite the national coronavirus lockdown, video footage has shown the beach and local restaurants busy with people. The video shows full car parks, walkways filled with people and restaurant queues that stretch around the corner.

The video also shows little to no social distancing being observed between groups of people, creating large bunches.

The second national lockdown came into effect on 2nd of November and required citizens adhere to the new rules for a month.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced in a press conference that the majority of non-essential businesses will be forced to close.

Unlike the previous lockdown, however, schools, universities and colleges are permitted to remain open.

Under the new lockdown rules, individuals are only permitted to leave their home for education, work but only if you are unable to work from home, exercise, medical reasons, to escape injury or harm, care for vulnerable people, volunteer and shop for essentials.

Frustration has grown across the country at the Government’s strategy in forcing the number of coronavirus cases down.

Many have demanded to know what restrictions will be in place over the Christmas period and what restrictions will be in place after the lockdown ends on December 2nd.

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Michael Gove addressed these concerns as he met with the devolved administrations over the weekend.

“As such, ministers endorsed a shared objective of facilitating some limited additional household bubbling for a small number of days, but also emphasised that the public will be advised to remain cautious, and that wherever possible people should avoid travelling and minimise social contact.

“In respect of Northern Ireland, ministers also recognised that people will want to see family and friends across the island of Ireland, and this is the subject of discussions with the Irish Government.

“Work is continuing to finalise the arrangements, including relating to travel.

“The UK Government, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and Northern Ireland Executive hope to conclude this work this week, subject to agreement by each administration.”
