An unattended bag was discovered in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2, prompting the terminal to be evacuated. The situation has since been resolved with the airport tweeting: “The issue has now been resolved. We apologise to our passengers for any inconvenience caused.”

Twitter users took to the social media platform to ask whether the Terminal will be reopen and whether their flights will be resumed.

One passenger tweeted: “I am set to fly on ET701 to Addis Ababa but Terminal 2 has been evacuated.

“Do you know why and what I can do about it?”

The airport initially tweeted: “Our teams are currently responding to a suspect item found in Terminal 2.

 

“As a precaution, check in, security and immigration in the terminal are temporally suspended while the authorities conduct the appropriate checks.

“Terminal 5 remains fully open and operational.

“We apologise to our passengers for any inconvenience caused.”

Someone else tweeted: “Heathrow Terminal 2 has been completely evacuated after reports of unattended baggage being left in the airport.”

“Are tonight’s flights being cancelled or what? Thank you.”

While someone else tweeted: “Instead of mindless social media can you please give an update on why T2 has been evacuated and whether any flights will go out tonight?

“I have an urgent reason for travel.”

Another person asked if there is anywhere they can “check to se when the terminals” will reopen again.

Someone else tweeted: “I would like a status update on your flights out of terminal 2 at Heathrow please. 

“The terminal is shut down at the moment.”

This evacuation comes minutes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the UK borders will be closed in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for carrying a prohibited article in an aerodrome.
