Leicester was the first area in England to be placed under a local lockdown back in June. Now the Government has announced further lockdown measures can be eased for Leicester from Wednesday, August 19. The changes will align the region with many of the lockdown measures introduced for the rest of England on July 11 and 13.
What can reopen in Leicester from Wednesday?
Nail bars, beauty and tanning salons will be able to reopen in Leicester from Wednesday, August 19.
Outdoor music venues and theatres will also be allowed to reopen.
Spas, massage and tattoo parlours, as well as body and skin piercing services, will also be able to reopen.

Outdoor swimming pools will also be allowed to reopen.
Shielding for the most vulnerable will still have to continue.
However in Leicester people who are shielding will now be able to meet in a group of up to six people outdoors, as long as social distancing is adhered to.
But generally the rules on gatherings will remain the same in Leicester as they are in other local lockdown areas, such as Greater Manchester, parts of West Yorkshire and east Lancashire.
“The rate of infection has now dropped to a safe enough level to allow further businesses including beauty salons, nail bars and some outdoor venues to reopen in the area.
“Current restrictions on gatherings must remain in place to further bring down the rate of infection.”
When the lockdown was put in place, the region recorded 135 cases per 100,000 people.
But according to the latest available data, cases last week had halved to 67 cases per 100,000.
