Meghan and Prince Harry’s popularity as members of the Royal Family in the UK has significantly dropped, a YouGov poll has shown. However, fans of the couple believe they, and likely the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are unaffected by these newly-published numbers. Twitter user Vash wrote: “I’m sure H&M could care less about what these people think about them or they would have stayed in the UK.

“They are happy living their best lives in California.”

Similarly, Sussex fan Jo Ann wrote: “Lol! Meghan really doesn’t care! She’s free!!!”

Another Twitter user referred to Meghan and Harry’s choice to give up their former statuses as senior royals to live a life freer from public scrutiny and royal protocols.

They wrote: “Whatever, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave up their royal status (April).

“They are now private individuals, they have a job, they have Archewell.

“Harry and Meghan are living in California with Archie.

“They are building a new life far from the royal world.”

Sussex fan Moni added as she commented on a YouGov tweet sharing the results of its analysis: “So maybe Harry and Meghan is something you all should stop lamenting, and let them lead their lives outside that tiny island without bother?”

Ball Lee, also said: “Yeah, let Will, Kate, Charles and Camilla battle it out for the top spot.

“Totally a messed up family competing for attention. Glad Harry and Meghan left that nuthouse.”

Meghan and Prince Harry announced in January their intention to step back as full-time working royal to carve out a “new, progressive role” within the Royal Family.

At the end of March, following negotiations with senior royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bowed out of their royal life by carrying out their last official engagements.

They have since relinquished the use of their HRH styles and can no longer represent the Queen or the Crown.

In turn, they can now live abroad and be financially independent.

The survey, carried out between October 2 and 4 on 1,626 British adults, shows Meghan has seen her score drop down 18 points since March.

Asked whether she evokes positive or negative opinion, a third of UK adults, 33 percent of the polled, said they think favourably of the Duchess.

Nearly six in ten Britons, 59 percent of the polled, have a negative opinion of her, creating a net favourability of -26.

This marks an 18-point drop in popularity since the YouGov survey carried out in March.

Prince Harry strongly divides the public opinion, the poll has shown.

Among those surveyed, 48 percent said to have a positive opinion of him while 47 percent have a negative view.

This leaves his net score to one and represents a 19-point from the March analysis.

In contrast, the Queen’s popularity has not faltered during the pandemic.

A stunning 83 percent of UK adults hold a positive view of the monarch while only 12 percent view her negatively.

Prince Philip’s popularity has risen by three points since March.

Since the beginning of the lockdown, the Duke of Edinburgh was seen in public on multiple occasions, possibly contributing to this rise.

Prince William and his wife Kate’s popularity also remains high.

Among the polled, 80 percent of Britons have a positive opinion of the Duke of Cambridge and 76 percent hold favourably the Duchess.

William is seen negatively by 15 percent of those polled while Kate by 14 percent.
