Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to step down from their duties as senior royals left a noticeable hole in the monarchy. While speaking on Sky News, royal commentator Robert Jobson insisted it was a shame the couple departed from the Royal Family. He added the Royal Family was at a loss without them but claimed the monarchy would march on as it always has.

Mr Jobson said: “I think it has been a shame.

“I think Harry and Meghan were a great addition to the whole story.”

Mr Jobson also admitted to being slightly confused at Meghan and Harry’s attitude while living out in LA.

He said: “The fact that they have gone to America is great for America but they seem to still want their privacy but also keep in the media themselves.

“It is almost as if they are missing the media attention.

Following the release of the unofficial biography, Finding Freedom, some royal commentators have defended Meghan and Harry’s decision to step down.

Royal expert Emily Andrews said: “There was a culture clash, an American divorcee, bi-racial actress, a woman of substance, a 21st-century girl from Los Angeles.

“This is versus the pale, male, stale and very white British monarchy.

“Yes we have a woman as our head of state, yes we have a woman as our Queen but it is still an old-fashioned institution.”
