The Duke and Duchess of Sussex mingled with the Hollywood actor and his wife Hannah Bagshawe as part of a circle of celebrity friends, according to royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their Harry and Meghan biography Finding Freedom. Mr Redmayne, 39, is known for films such as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Theory of Everything.

The actor was hosted at Duke and Duchess’ Great Tew Estate home in the Cotswolds. They had moved there ahead of their marriage in 2018.

However, Mr Redmayne and his wife were only two of a “wider circle” of celebrities who hung around Harry and Meghan.

Others included tennis star Serena Williams and fashion stylist Jessica Mulroney, according to Hello!.

Finding Freedom revealed Ms Mulroney, a close friend of Meghan, had visited “a couple of times” to relax ahead of the wedding.

The authors add Harry and Meghan “did their fair share of hosting” following their wedding.

The Sussexes have since moved to California, where they currently reside having stepped down from senior royal duties in March this year.

They are thought to be living in the coastal region of Santa Barbara, near to yet more celebrities including Oprah Winfrey.

Months prior, they had resided in Los Angeles, home to Hollywood itself.

Meghan later interviewed Mrs Obama for an edition of Vogue, in which she spoke of “motherhood and maturity.”

More recently, the Duchess of Sussex spoke out to encourage Americans to vote as part of an initiative partly run by the wife of the former president.

The couple’s past meetings with Eddie Redmayne would not have been the first time the British actor had mingled with royals.

Indeed, fashion and beauty site Marie Claire claims Meghan, Mr Redmayne and others had once hung out on holiday in Turkey back in 2015.

However, the royal perhaps most likely to have history with the actor is Prince William, who attended Eton College with Mr Redmayne.

In fact, the two even played on the same rugby team. The actor once said in an interview with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen the experience had been “quite easy and quite fun.”

However, he claimed other teams tended to tackle Prince William a lot “in order to say, ‘I tackled Prince William.’”
