Before she met Prince Harry, Meghan was married to Hollywood producer and talent agent Trevor, with whom she was in a relationship for nearly a decade. However, the couple started to drift apart after Meghan moved to Canada following her breakthrough role in the TV legal drama Suits. Suits was filmed in Toronto, Canada so the couple started spending extended periods of time apart, because Trevor stayed behind in Los Angeles.
When Meghan decided she wanted to end the relationship, it came as a huge surprise to Trevor, his family and their friends.
According to the 2018 book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, Trevor was so taken aback that, even five years later, he could “barely contain his anger”.
One friend told author Andrew Morton that Trevor went from cherishing Meghan to “feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe.”
A wealthy entrepreneur friend claimed Meghan actually sent her diamond wedding and engagement rings back to Trevor in the post.

Another stated that it had been entirely Meghan’s decision and that it had come “totally out of the blue”.
Ninaki Priddy, who is Meghan’s former best friend and maid of honour at her wedding to Trevor, was surprised as anyone else, saying she had thought they were “manoeuvring through” their issues with the distance.
In fact, when she heard Trevor’s side of the story, she decided she no longer wanted to “associate herself” with Meghan.
She said: “The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was hurt.”
She told the ITV documentary ‘Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly Madly Deeply’ how Meghan had simply realised it wasn’t the right relationship for her and was “empowered” by that.
She said: “We both went through divorce so we bonded over that too.
“I was destroyed but she was empowered. She took her power back.
“It wasn’t the right relationship for her, so she moved on.”
Both Meghan and Trevor have successfully moved on, with Meghan meeting Harry in 2016 and marrying him in 2018.
The couple have one child together, Archie, with another one on the way.
Meanwhile, Trevor married dietitian Tracey Kurland in 2019.
Meghan: A Hollywood Princess was written by Andrew Morton and published by Michael O’Mara in 2018. It is available here.
