Prince Charles is expected to attend a service at Westminster Abbey to commemorate the return of the Unknown Warrior to Britain 100 years ago today. People around the country will also observe a two-minute silence to mark Armistice Day. BBC Royal Correspondent Jonny Dymond explained the special Royal Family significance for the Prince of Wales.

He told Radio 4’s Today show: “One man was brought over to represent the hundreds of thousands that never returned.

“Today that man, and the many who remain in foreign fields, will be honoured anew.

“A century ago, his coffin was drawn beneath a union flag to be saluted by King George V.

“Today the King’s great-grandson, Prince Charles, will lay a wreath at the warrior’s grave, the same flag hanging nearby inside the Abbey.”
