Prince William’s call to congratulate Oxford vaccine team ‘poignant’ for personal reasons | Royal | News (Reports)

During the call Prince William said: “Well done, I’m so pleased for all of you, I really am.

“I saw it in everyone’s faces back in June how much time and effort was going into this, and I could see that there was a lot of pressure on everyone, so I’m so thrilled that you’ve cracked it – so really well done.”

According to a royal commentator, the breakthrough will have struck a personal note for the Prince who tested positive for the virus in April but kept it secret from the public.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told “The remarkable breakthrough by the University of Oxford in collaboration with AstraZeneca plc on the creation of a global COVID-19 vaccine is a reason for enormous celebration.”
