The Prince of Wales and his sister were given a miniature caravan by by The Caravan Club in 1955, which they rode around Buckingham Palace. The child-sized Rollalong caravan was 2.72 metres long, 1.35 metres wide and 1.80 metres tall.

It is understood Prince Philip would pull the tog vehicle along as he walked around Palace grounds.

The caravan featured a kitchen – supplied with water, gas an electricity – and wooden interiors.

It was also equipped with a collection of Beatrix Potter books and a tea set for the royal siblings.

The vehicle was refurbished in 2007 and donated to the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.

It was later returned to Buckingham Palace for an exhibition displaying royal memorabilia in 2014 and has stayed there since.

The relic had to be airlifted by a crane with extreme care in order to be exhibited.

Prince Charles was crowned Prince of Wales more than 50 years ago.

As the heir to the throne, Charles has used his voice to speak his mind about issues such as climate change and the protection of natural resources.
