Queen Elizabeth II’s daughter took part in a video call with seven of the Conference’s scholars. Anne is the Honorary President of the annual summit for agriculture, celebrating its 75th anniversary and reflecting on the conference.

Oxford Farming Conference posted a picture of the Princess Royal on Twitter as she talked with the scholars.

Princess Anne was grinning as she hailed the summit and addressed the delegates for the 75th anniversary call.

Closing the conference, Anne said “farming is fairly unusual, but farmers always overcome the challenges” over Zoom.

She added: “We must keep our eye on the sustainable and keep our eye on what makes sense for our own environment.”

Anne also told the conference about the challenges faced by British farmers in the wake of Britain leaving the EU.

She said: “We always face challenges…& we’re lining up challenges this year with Brexit…even without a pandemic”.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, this year’s conference was held virtually.

The virtual conference marked Anne’s first royal appearance of the year, broadcast live from her home Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire.

When the Princess Anne made public appearances, she was spotted in a monogrammed face mask.

Anne made her last public appearance when she, along with the Queen, the Duke and Duchess and Cambridge and other royals thanked local key workers at Windsor Castle in December.

The Royal Family stayed socially distanced due to Government restrictions.

It comes as Zara Tindall, Anne’s daughter, is set to give birth to her third child this year.

Zara and Mike Tindall’s child will be Anne’s fifth grandchild.

Despite the UK being under lockdown restrictions, HELLO! Magazine reported there are two ways Zara can meet with her mother.

Zara and Mike could move into one of the properties at Gatcombe Park during the lockdown while staying socially distanced, or Anne and Zara could form a childcare bubble.

It also follows body language expert Judi James suggesting Anne could have the closest relationship with the Queen out of the monarchs children.

She said: “Her low-key, unfussy, immensely solid role in the Queen’s public life makes their relationship look similar in many ways to that between the Queen and her husband.

“Like her father, Anne appears to make the Queen laugh. Most poses between the two women suggest a shared sense of humour, bringing out a side of the Queen that we rarely get to glimpse.

“Also like Philip, Princess Anne often looks on the brink of a wry and slightly cynical smile. This more down-to-earth and even irreverent approach should be exactly what the Queen needs to keep her happy and grounded.”
