Eugenie, 30, gave birth to her and Jack Brooksbank’s baby boy last week. The new mother is “doing really well” after having a C-section due to her scoliosis surgery when she was younger, according to a friend who has been in touch with her.

Eugenie had surgery to treat a curvature of the spine at the age of 12.

Speaking to People, the source added that the royal “sounded very content and said the baby is a complete dream”.

Jack was at Eugenie’s side when she gave birth to their first child just over a week ago.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, February 9 2021, at 8.55am at The Portland Hospital.

“Jack Brooksbank was present.

“The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.

“This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

Eugenie glowed as she waved from the back of a 4×4 with her baby boy beside her in a carry cot, while Jack was driving.

The couple have not yet revealed the name they have chosen for their little one.

James and Philip are the favourites with the bookmakers for the youngest royal, who is 11th in line to the throne.

Sarah Ferguson revealed her excitement at becoming a grandmother in a video for her Storytime with Fergie and Friends YouTube channel on Wednesday.

The Duchess of York read Baby On The Way by Hannah Davison, Marco Palmieri and Flicka Williams.

Putting on an animated display, Sarah said: “Hello, magic dust is in the air. Yes, yes, come on, granny! Very exciting times, and I’m a granny! Woo! Am I a granny? I put my granny hat on and my reading granny glasses on, I’ve found them at last.”

Eugenie’s son is not the only royal baby due in 2021. Zara and Mike Tindall have a third child on the way later this year.

And on Sunday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry – who have quit royal duties for a new life in America – announced they are expecting their second child.
