The Government is eager to have all children at school, and have made it compulsory for parents to send them back.

The only situation in which a child can skip school due to COVID-19 is if they, or a close contact, tests positive for the disease.

In this case, they must self-isolate for either one or two weeks, depending on the circumstances.

Otherwise, headteachers can follow up on any absences.
