Next on the list was Nottingham, followed by Bassetlaw, Sunderland and Stockton on Tees.
A spokesperson for the Covid Symptom Study said: “According to this week’s tier prediction model, Hartlepool, and Nottingham are the next regions most likely to be plunged into the tiger restrictions of Tier 3.
“The next regions on the list are Bassetlaw, Sunderland, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Bradford, Gateshead and County Durham.”
The tier prediction model takes Tier 2 regions and uses the average estimated cases over the last seven days to list the areas in descending order.
