She spent her 21st birthday in intensive care. Weeks later, at her parents’ Liverpool home, she saw news footage of lorry driver Sutcliffe and recognised him immediately. He wasn’t charged with attacking her. Beginning in 1975, Sutcliffe murdered 13 women in brutal slayings committed with hammers and screwdrivers.

He attacked at least eight more who survived, but a mishandled police investigation meant he remained at large for six years.

West Yorkshire police opened a review into Mo’s case, and those of other possible Ripper attacks, but found insufficient evidence.

Mo said: “I’m one of the forgotten victims. I’m in an exclusive club that no one wanted to be part of.”

Now 60, she has made an extraordinary recovery from her terrifying encounter, and written a book, released today on Amazon, Facing The Yorkshire Ripper: The Art Of Survival.

She calls the serial killer a “piece of litter”.

Mo said: “I’m angry with Sutcliffe, but the horror of it doesn’t rule my life. I won’t let that happen.”

Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to slay seven others. He is serving 20 concurrent life sentences.

Last week, ITV announced it is making a drama based on Michael Bilton’s book, Wicked Beyond Belief: The Hunt For The Yorkshire Ripper.
