Salma Hayek’s tough battle with COVID-19: ‘I’d rather die at home’

SALMA HAYEK has revealed she almost died during her secret battle with COVID-19 and refused to go to the hospital, as she wanted to “die at home”.

From Dusk Till Dawn actress Salma Hayek, 54, has spoken out on her near-fatal battle with coronavirus for the first time. The star revealed she suffered badly from the virus early on in the pandemic, prompting doctors to “beg” her to go to the hospital.

Salma recalled being put on oxygen and spending almost seven weeks isolated in a room of her house.

Detailing her experience with the virus, the Grown Ups actress is featured on the cover story for the latest issue of Variety.

She said during an interview with the publication: “My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad.”

However, Salma ignored pleas from her doctors, as she wanted to die at home if the worst case situation occurred.

She admitted: “I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home.’”

Salma said that although the most dangerous element of the disease is now behind her, she is still struggling with some long-term problems.

The Hollywood star explained she still feels fatigued due to her battle with Covid.

She said that as a result of her low energy levels, her first job – House Of Gucci with Adam Driver and Lady Gaga – after her secret health battle proved to be difficult for her.

The brunette beauty divulged: “It was not a lot of time.

“I had started doing Zooms at one point, but I could only do so many because I would get so tired.”

Salma recently documented her COVID-19 tests ahead of going to work.

She candidly posted a video montage of her nose being swabbed while grimacing during the process.
