BBC reporter Cathy Killick was unable to contain her emotion as she reflected on the life of her parents. In a touching tribute to her parents who died of coronavirus, she highlighted the importance of realising the impact the disease is having on families across the world. Ms Killick said: “The music you are hearing is something my brother found to play to our mother when she was dying.
“It happened six weeks after the death of our dad.
“They both died from COVID-19 and their names were Ted and Elizabeth.
“Dad was in the Army, a gunner and my mum was a primary school teacher, they were such lovely parents.”
The BBC reporter then highlighted some key memories she holds with her parents and their attitudes as parents.

She insisted she wanted to bring attention to their lives and the importance of safety during the pandemic due to the thousands of people grieving lost ones as a result of the disease.
She said: “They took us camping and helped us out whenever they could.
“There were four of us in all and I’m the third and I’m doing this in their memory.
“I know as a reporter it’s really hard to give a voice to the bereaved.
“They risked their own health to take care of him, I won’t have a word said against them, they were unflagging and dedicated.
“My mum tested positive for Covid in hospital having had a stroke two days before my dad’s funeral.
“She couldn’t go back to the care home because she was Covid-positive and they were Covid-free at the time.”
