The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have remained firmly in the public spotlight, despite opting to stand down from senior Royal Family life in a bombshell move earlier this year. They confessed to wanting to lead a “financially independent life” away from the glare of the media, but have maintained their presence as one of the world’s most recognisable couples. In recent weeks, speculation has begun to mount as to whether former US actress Meghan and Harry will have another child, to join their one-year-old son in the family.

And while Harry has maintained a defensiveness over Meghan since she joined the Royal Family following their spectacular royal wedding, the 35-year-old appeared to enhance his protective nature while she was expecting.

During a trip two years ago, Meghan and Harry watched a sailing event on Sydney Harbour, which was part of the inaugural day of action in the Invictus Games.

While enjoying the first race, the couple were approached by an American sailor who gave Harry a “bear hug”, lifting the Duke off his feet, laughing hysterically as he did so.

In footage, Meghan can be heard shouting: “Now that’s a hug, nicely done.”

But in a fatherly moment, Harry then told the athlete to not grip Meghan as firmly due to her pregnancy.

The sailor replied “no, I know”, before laughing again and cuddling the then-newest member of the Royal Family.

Harry created the Invictus Games, which sees wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in a series of sports.

This year’s event was due to take part in Holland in May, but, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed until 2021.

“Harry was really quite interested in how things were with second children as well, because we both have older children. And we were trying to encourage him to have a second baby.”

Harry himself also admitted to wanting to have a second child, when in discussion with primatologist Dr Jane Goodall, for Meghan’s guest-edited issue of British Vogue last year.

During their talk, Harry explained how he wanted a “maximum of two children” as he wanted to do his bit to protect and preserve the world’s environment.
