Prince Harry ‘transformed’ by Meghan Markle’s love – gone from ‘number two’ to advocate | Royal | News (Reports)

Prince Harry chose a different path than his brother Prince William who, inspired by his future role, has grown up making choices aiming to protect the Crown, royal author Robert Lacey said. The Duke of Sussex, on the other hand, chose love over duty – and has been transformed by it. 

Mr Lacey recalled how Prince William made Kate wait for almost a decade before tying the knot.

He told Express.co.uk: “He made her wait for nine years before they got married, to make sure she was happy to be Queen and be able to do the job properly.”

This long wait paid off, the expert said, as they are now inspiring the nation as perfect future Queen and King.

He continued: “It has come right, providing the most wonderful example of what an heir, a future King, and future Queen should do. 

“They are inspiring the nation following the call of duty.”

Prince Harry, on the other hand, grew up knowing he could live more freely than his brother, given his minor role within the Royal Family when compared to the future monarch.

This, together with the traumatic experiences the brothers have gone through during childhood, pushed the Duke of Sussex towards a dramatically different path than William’s.

Speaking about Prince Harry’s choice to marry Meghan after less than two years from their first blind date, the author of Battle of Brothers said: “Harry took a different conclusion from those difficult times during their childhood.

“He said look, we are the product of an arranged marriage, our father was in love with someone else, it was a loveless marriage, I’m going to go for love.

“And he has said more than once he fell in love with Meghan almost immediately the moment he met her.     

“And now he is following the way in which love has transformed him, evolving from the loser, from the number two, into a guy who’s got ideas, who is willing to speak out.

“One important element in this story is the way in which Meghan helped him change.”

In his book, Mr Lacey detailed how Prince William and Prince Harry’s different approach to love worsened their relationship and contributed to their split.

He wrote: “William couldn’t understand how Harry could contemplate marrying this still unknown and untested quantity less than two years after their first meeting. 

“It went against his every instinct – and his own track record. 

“If ‘Waity William’ had taken a decade to test out and approve his life partner, surely his younger brother could ponder his options for just a year or so more?

“But ‘Waity William’, of course, took so long to commit to Kate for the sake of the monarchy.

“He had been auditioning her for a job all those years.

“So Harry could not help but wonder whether Wills was really concerned about his personal happiness – or whether he was, once again, and as per usual, thinking about the make-up and fortunes of ‘the Firm’ whose boss he would become one day?” 

Since stepping down as full-time working royal, Prince Harry has openly embraced new causes he cares about.

Earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex confessed Meghan opened his eyes on racial inequality in the UK.

Thanks to Meghan, for the first time in his life, Prince Harry also took part in conversations touching upon the US election.

The couple has also learned together about digital communities and their impact on the everyday’s world.

Together, they are now gearing up to launch Archewell, their foundation.

Earlier this week, the pair unveiled the website of this organisation, consisting at the moment only of a mailing list and the meaning of Archewell.
